Allah’s Plan of Action
As expressed in the Quran, the perspective, disposition, and plans of Allah regarding sinners are clearly articulated:
(1) It is Allah (in the Quran) who guides some to the right path and leads others astray.
“Whoever Allah guides is the one who is truly guided; and whoever He leads astray—they are the ones who are the losers.” (Surah 7:178)
(2) Allah reveals in the Quran His ultimate plan, stating that He created many jinn and humans specifically for Hell.
“We have created many jinn and humans for Hell. They have hearts, but they do not use them to understand; they have eyes, but they do not use them to see; and they have ears, but they do not use them to hear. They are like cattle—nay, they are even more astray. It is they who are the heedless.” (Surah 7:179)
(3) Islamic teaching holds that even before human beings are created, Allah has already ordained their destiny—encompassing their lives, their faith, and their ultimate eternal outcome—such that everything that has been preordained by Allah in the Quran unfolds exactly as written during their time in this world. The Hadiths explain this matter even more clearly—
Narrated by ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud:
The Messenger of Allah, the truthful and the one truly inspired, said, “The creation of a human being is gathered in the mother’s womb for forty days; then, for a similar period, he becomes a thick clot of blood; and for another similar period, he becomes a lump of flesh. Then, Allah sends an angel with instructions to record four things regarding this individual. The angel writes down the person’s (i.e., the new being’s) deeds, his sustenance, the date of his death, and whether he will be blessed or wretched. Then, the soul is breathed into him. Thus, a person among you may perform good deeds—to the point where there is only a cubit’s distance between him and Paradise—but then, due to what has been decreed for him, he begins to perform (evil) deeds that lead him into the Fire (Hell). Likewise, a person among you may perform (evil) deeds—to the point where there is only a cubit’s distance between him and the Fire (Hell)—but then, because of what has been decreed for him, he begins to perform deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 4:54:430)
[Sahih al-Bukhari 4:54:430; 2:23:444; 6:60:473; 9:93:641 & Sahih Muslim 33:6436; 33:6406]
“Say (O Prophet) to them: ‘Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Protector. In Allah alone should the believers place their trust.’” (Surah 9:51)
“We have fastened every human being’s deeds—whether good or bad—around his own neck. On the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring forth for him a record (of his deeds), which he will find laid out before him like an open book.” (Surah 17:13)
“Yet it is Allah who created you and all that you do!” (Surah 37:96)
(4) According to Islamic teaching, an individual cannot, of their own volition, choose to do good or follow the righteous path. This is because one cannot desire such a course of action unless Allah—as described in the Quran—wills for that person to have such a desire.
“You cannot will (anything) unless Allah wills it. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.” (Surah 76:30)
(5) According to Islamic teaching, whether human beings follow the righteous path or… They cannot choose anything for themselves—not even a path that leads astray. They desire only what Allah, as described in the Quran, wills for them to desire.
“And you cannot will [anything] unless Allah, the Lord of the worlds, wills it.” (Surah 81:29)
(6) According to Islamic teaching, for an individual to believe in the truth, there must be a decree from Allah (as stated in the Quran). Without this, a person cannot seek the right path.
“And it is not for a soul to believe except by the permission of Allah. And He places impurity [or wrath] upon those who do not use their reason.” (Surah 10:100)
(7) According to Islamic teaching, for a person to even desire the right path—let alone walk upon it—the will and decree of Allah (as mentioned in the Quran) are required. Only when these are present can an individual attain the blessing of the right path. In other words, Allah grants this blessing only to those whom He chooses.
“It is not your responsibility [to guide them]; rather, Allah guides to the right path whomever He wills. Whatever good you spend [in the way of Allah], it is for your own benefit—provided you spend only for the sake of Allah’s pleasure. Whatever you spend, you will be fully compensated for it, and you will not be wronged in the least.” (Surah 2:272)
(8) In the Quran, Allah causes those whom He wills to seek the right path; likewise, He causes those whom He wills to seek a misguided path.
“We have not sent any messenger except in the language of his own people, so that he might make things clear to them. Then, Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.” (Surah 14:4)
(9) In this context, there is no one to help or protect a person whom Allah has led astray and caused to wander off the right path.
“Whoever Allah leads astray, there is no protector for him thereafter. And you will see the wrongdoers, when they behold the punishment, saying, ‘Is there any way to return [to the world]?’” (Surah 42:44)
(10) In the Quran, Allah Himself, according to His own plan, leads certain individuals astray. There is no other way for such people to escape this.
“They shall have no protectors to help them other than Allah. And for those whom Allah leads astray, there is no path [to guidance].” (Surah 42:46)
(11) When Allah, according to His plan, intends to destroy an entire city, He accomplishes this in three steps:
First step: He issues certain commands to the inhabitants of that city.
Second step: The inhabitants of the city disobey these commands given by Allah. This occurs because Allah has already preordained their destiny—that they would indeed disobey [Surah 9:51].
Third step: Once the inhabitants have disobeyed His commands and become guilty—in accordance with the destiny He decreed—Allah destroys them on account of their transgressions. In this manner, Allah fulfills what He has intended.
“When We intend to destroy a city, We issue commands to its affluent ones; yet they act disobediently therein. Thus, the decree [of punishment] becomes justified against them, and We then utterly destroy that city.” (Surah 17:16)
The Quran itself, while describing the attributes of Allah, states:
“To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And Allah is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah 48:14)
Given this, it remains incomprehensible why Allah, who possesses absolute dominion over the heavens and the earth, would go to such great lengths—employing the complex, three-step deceptive scheme described in Surah 17:16—just to destroy a city, much less harbor the immoral desire to destroy it in the first place.
(12) According to Islamic teaching, Allah shows mercy to those He chooses, ensuring they do not perish by going astray; this is because He created them with the specific plan that they should live on the right path and enter Paradise (Jannah). Conversely, those to whom Allah—according to His own will—does not extend His mercy, end up on a misguided path and perish in Hell; this is because He created them, by His own design, with the specific intent that they should follow that misguided path and meet their destruction. In fact, the Quran clarifies this intention and purpose of Allah in the following verses:
“Except for those upon whom your Lord has bestowed mercy—and for this He created them. But the word of your Lord has been fulfilled: ‘I will surely fill Hell with jinn and mankind, all together.’” (Surah 11:119)
“And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me has come into effect: ‘I will surely fill Hell with jinn and mankind, all together.’” (Surah 32:13)
According to the teachings of the Quran, Allah—as described therein—ordains everything regarding an individual even before their creation: their birth, the decisions they will make, the actions they will perform (both good and bad), the faith or religion they will adopt, and their ultimate eternal destination (whether Paradise or Hell). Subsequently, He brings the person into existence; if that individual was created for Hell, He leads them astray, guides them onto a wrong path, and causes them to commit sins. Ultimately, He judges the person based on those sins and casts them into Hell. It is truly incomprehensible that, despite all this, the Quran proclaims Allah to be ‘infinitely merciful’ and ‘perfectly just’! In other words, according to the teachings of the Quran, it becomes evident that the entire narrative of this worldly journey—the songs, the dialogue, the music, the producer, the director, the screenplay, the actors, the distributors, and even the audience—is, in fact, Allah (as described in the Quran) Himself!
This particular tenet within the Islamic faith raises serious doubts even among some Muslims.
Perfect holiness, justice/righteousness, and love are the essential moral attributes of the true God. A deity lacking any of these qualities must either be a false god or merely an imaginary construct—existing only in words and speculation. Such a deity offers no real benefit to anyone!
