3 Important Sacrifices
Life is in the blood. Therefore blood represents life. Offering animal sacrifices before God is a symbolic act that signifies offering of ones own life to God. Blood sacrifices were offered by people to God [الله/Allah] the Almighty during Prophets’ days. Holy Prophets offered sacrifices to God as per God’s instructions and requirement. In the past, Prophets of God offered many sacrifices to God. Three kinds of them are of paramount importance.
First kind of sacrifice
This sacrifice saved one man. It was provided by Allah as a ransom but offered by the Prophet Ibrahim to Allah so that the life of Ibrahim’s son was spared from death.
“Then when they submitted ˹to Allah’s Will˺, and Abraham laid him on the side of his forehead ˹for sacrifice˺ We called out to him, “O Ibrahim! You have already fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers. That was truly a revealing test. And We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice, and blessed Abraham ˹with honorable mention˺ among later generations:” (Quran, As-Saffat; 37:103-108)
“Then Abraham looked up and behind him to see a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So Abraham went over, grabbed the ram, and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son. Abraham named that place, “The Lord Will Provide,” as it is told this day, “On the Lord’s mountain, he will provide.” (Tawrat, Genesis.22:13-14)
Second kind of sacrifice
This kind of sacrifices saved an entire nation. These sacrifices were offered during the time of the Prophet Musa. Those sacrifices saved the entire nation of Israel from the angel of death.
Allah delivered the nation of Israel from Egyptian bondage with great miracles, one of them was while protecting the first-born sons of Israel Allah killed all the first-born sons of Egyptians through the angel of death.
“Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and take for yourselves lambs according to your families, and slaughter the Passover lamb. And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; but when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you… Now it came about at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.” (Tawrat, Exodus.12:21-23, 29)
Third kind of sacrifice
This particular sacrifice saves the whole world. This sacrifice was offered by the unique Prophet Isa, who is also called the word of God in the Quran [Kalimatullah-Surah 4:171]. It saves the whole world, including you, from God’s eternal punishment after death in hell.
“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus [Isa al-Masih], who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.” (Injeel, 1Tim.2:5-6)
“The next day, John [Yahya] saw Jesus [Isa] coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (Injeel, John.1:29)
“…but now once at the consummation of the ages He [Isa al-Masih] has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” (Injeel, Hebrews.9:26)
Isa Al-Masih sacrificed His life for us. After His death He came back to life on the third day, and told His followers…
“These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things that are written about Me in the ‘Law of Moses’ [Tawrat] and the Prophets and the ‘Psalms’ [Zabur] must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “So it is written, that the Christ [Masih] would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” (Injeel, Luke.24:44-48)
That is what is being proclaimed to you through this brochure. May Allah help you to pay attention to this truth!
Dear friend, the sins you have committed through your thoughts, words, and deeds have separated you from Allah who is holy. Ultimately your sins, if not forgiven here in this world, will take you to hell on the Day of Judgement. But if you accept and believe in the ransom that Allah Himself had provided in the greatest sacrifice of Isa Al-Masih, your sins will be forgiven completely, and you will have peace with Allah and inherit eternal-life in Allah’s presence.
